The short version
- Sipling has no account, no sign-in and no developer server. Your water log, goal, weight, reminder times and settings stay on your device.
- We (the developer) do not collect your personal data and cannot see how much you drink.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google’s advertising SDK collects the data described below to serve and measure ads.
- You choose whether to share data for personalised ads, and can change that any time in Settings → Privacy and ads → Privacy choices (shown where required by law).
Data stored on your device
Your drinks (time, amount, type), daily totals, daily goal, the weight, activity level, climate and optional sex you enter to estimate the goal, reminder times, cup sizes, drink factors, your streak and plant progress, and app settings. This data never leaves your phone unless you export a backup. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. The goal is a general wellness estimate, not medical advice.
Backups
Settings → Backup and restore → Export a backup writes one JSON file and opens Android’s share sheet. Where that file goes (Drive, email, files) is your choice and is governed by that service. The app never uploads it. Restoring reads a file you pick.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device by Android. They are not sent from a server. The app asks permission before sending any; you can turn them off in Settings or in Android system settings. The buttons on a reminder (“Add 250 ml”, “Snooze”) act on the data stored on your device.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Depending on your region and choices, Google may collect and use:
- Device or other identifiers, such as the Android advertising ID, and approximate location derived from your IP address
- App interactions, such as ad impressions and clicks
- Diagnostics, such as crash logs and performance data for advertising, fraud prevention, security, and analytics/measurement. The data is encrypted in transit. See Google’s policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and how Google uses data from apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
In the European Economic Area, the UK and some other regions, the app shows Google’s consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) before requesting ads. You can reopen it from Settings → Privacy and ads. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Some features are unlocked by watching a rewarded ad. Watching is always your choice.
The app asks for ads suitable for ages 13 and over and is not designed for children under 13.
Permissions
Notifications (reminders), vibration, boot completed (to restore reminders after a restart), internet and network state (to load ads), and the advertising ID permission (used by the ads SDK). The app does not request exact-alarm access, battery-optimization exemptions, or access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, photos or files.
Your choices and rights
- Use the app without any account.
- Delete all app data by uninstalling or clearing storage.
- Change ad personalisation in Privacy choices or Android settings.
- Because the developer does not hold your data, there is nothing for us to export or delete on a server. For data held by Google, use https://myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this page and its effective date when the app’s data practices change.
